Lawrenceburg Council Creates Public Works Department
In an effort to streamline city government members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council voted Thursday to eliminate the existing Streets Department and create a Public Works Department.
Creating the new department will allow the city to integrate employees who perform like work, promoting “better efficiency of the city’s labor force.”
Leaders said that all of the current employees of the Street Department will be transferred to Public Works, as well as some employed through the Parks and Recreation Department and Emergency Management Agency.
City Administrator William McLain emphasized that the change will not result in the elimination of any jobs, nor will employees see changes in pay.
